Houston ISD Chooses Aesop for Automated Sub Placement

SaaS platform to improve efficiency through absence management and data integration

EXTON, Pa. - April 5, 2010 - After lengthy review, Houston Independent School District has selected Aesop, the online software tool, to manage teacher absences and substitute placement throughout the district. Aesop, provided by Frontline Placement Technologies of suburban Philadelphia, is the leader in its category, serving more than 2,400 districts nationwide - more than all competing systems combined.

This spring, Houston ISD will implement Aesop's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform to coordinate absence registration and substitute placement for their more than 17,000 teachers. Houston ISD, the seventh largest district in the country, will join a community of nearly 2 million Aesop users in thousands of districts, including more than 130 districts in Texas.

"It is great to see a large district like Houston leading the way with technology solutions that really do bring huge efficiency improvements for districts of any size."

Frontline and Houston ISD will begin to execute plans this week to ensure a smooth transition of Aesop and immediate value for teachers, substitutes and administrators. Aesop will also be integrating with PeopleSoft, Houston ISD's payroll system, to save hours of data entry time.

"Houston is looking forward to a seamless integration between Aesop and PeopleSoft, just like we implemented with Dallas ISD," said Dani O'Shaughnessey, the Aesop sales director. "Aesop's custom integrations are one of the greatest ways we can bring efficiencies and savings to large and small districts."

Houston ISD was previously using an in-house substitute calling system to contact substitutes. With Aesop, Houston's substitutes will be able to proactively search for and accept jobs through the phone or internet. In addition, Houston ISD administrators can monitor absence trends with Aesop's real-time absence tracking and extensive reporting. Unlike traditional sub-calling systems, Aesop's integrated internet and web service does not require hardware, software, or extra phone lines at the district office and never has maintenance or upgrade fees.
